Ipswich G&S - Members' Information

Song Parts

I've created a way for people to check what parts they've asked to sing by directly accessing my database over the Web.  I've restricted people to viewing only their own selections (plus some other general information), so you will need a username and password to use it.  To get one, please email me at IpswichGandS.org.uk requesting me to set you up.

Once you've done that, you can login at the initial page.

Concerts

There's a complete list of concerts for the year, plus directions for how to get to some of them.

General Information

Rehearsals are held at Belstead village hall each Monday and at least alternate Thursday evenings, between 7.30 and 10.00, from January to August. From September until the production in November, you are asked to be available for rehearsals as required, every Monday and Thursday. Two or three Sunday rehearsals are also held during October/November. A rehearsal schedule is given out two or three times a year, and it must be stressed that regular attendance at rehearsals is expected. If you are unable to attend a rehearsal for any reason, we appreciate an explanation, in advance if possible.

Within a few weeks of joining the society, you will be asked to do an informal audition, usually as part of a quartet. Auditions for the main production in November are held in May of each year. These are open auditions, for chorus and principals, providing all members with an entertaining and enlightening, if nerve-racking, evening! The audition panel consists of members of the production team, plus the society chairman.

From March to July, we perform a series of charity concerts around the region (about ten in all). Midweek concerts usually begin at 8pm and Saturday concerts at 7.30pm. Formal wear is required for concerts, based on red or blue depending on venue.

GENTS: Black dinner jackets and trousers, white shirt, black bow tie, black shoes and buttonhole (provided by the society).

LADIES: Long evening dress (down to the floor), all one colour, of any colour. A suitable wrap may be worn if the concert venue is uncomfortably cold.

Hopefully you will find these notes useful. Please don't hesitate to ask a committee member if any thing needs clarification.
