Welcome to the Home Page of Ipswich Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Here you will find details of our annual stage show - invariably one (or more) of Gilbert and Sullivan's Operettas, together with details of the numerous concerts we sing - invariably not all G&S - and some other information should you wish to support us, as well as a little of the history of the Society.
Our complete programme of events for the year is now being printed, and can also be viewed online.
To celebrate our the 80th anniversary, we will be performing a "Come and Sing" Mikado at the New Wolsey Theatre on June 30th. It promises to be a lot of fun, so do please come along and support us.
This year we will be changing some of the arrangement for our shows. We are moving from the Ipswich Corn Exchange (mainly because of the changes they made to their pricing) and instead performing at the Seckford Theatre at Woodbridge School. Our performance will be a little earlier - October 27th to 30th 2010. The show will be what is probably the most popular G&S of them all - The Gondoliers.
Last year's shows, "The Sorcerer" and "Cox and Box", were held in the Corn Exchange from November 18th to 21st 2009.
Visit the WhatsNew page to see What Else Is New.
The Ipswich Gilbert and Sullivan Society has a reputation for performing music of a high standard, performing one Gilbert and Sullivan operetta each year, together with a number of concerts in aid of charity. The concerts involve singing a wide variety of musical styles, from baroque to pop.
This year we are, as usual, running our Concert Season. We hope you'll join us.
Should any of this whet your appetite to become involved with the society in any capacity, please get in touch with our secretary.
