We were lucky enough to have an opportunity to perform at the New Wolsey Theatre on June 30th 2010. To celebrate 80 years of performing Gilbert and Sullivan shows, we invited our friends to Come and Sing The Mikado. Our society provided the principals and some of the chorus, but most of the singing was done by the audience of over 370. The chorus rehearsal started at 7 pm and people used music from the souvenir programme, so there was no need to hunt out a score. The performance started at 8 pm and everyone had a great time (or so they told us). We had a raffle with a lawnmower as first prize, and this was won by the daughter of a society member, much to her delight. To celebrate our birthday, we had a specially made cake, and the audience had birthday cake in the interval. |
